The Kaioshin Realm. Age 774, May 8th, Earth time.
The greatest battle the known universe has ever seen is taking place on the holiest ground in all the cosmos. Where Gods once strode about, fretting over the duties of deities, two beings of Godly might now wage war for the sake of all known existence.
Defending existence itself is Son Goku. Originally born Kakarotto on the Planet Vegeta in Age 737 to an ambivalent father Bardock, he was ushered off the world to do his Saiyan duty of conquering his first planet, even as an infant. He landed on Earth where he forgot his mission, as his planet died behind him. He was taken in by Son Gohan, a martial arts master of the Kame School who would send him on the adventure that would ultimately lead Goku here, to the Kaioshin Realm, to fight for all.
Threatening existence itself is Majin Boo. Summoned into existence by the twisted sorcerer Madoshi Bibidi more than five-million years Before Age, and unleashed across the universe where untold worlds and civilizations crumbled before him. The Kaioshin stepped in, only to have all but one killed or absorbed. Bibidi was slain and Boo was kept on Earth until two days ago when Bibidi's son, Madoshi Babidi, revived him and the Earth soon fell prey to his strength.
The fate of the entire universe rides on this final, climatic battle.
Vegeta

Kaio-sama, Yamcha, Kuririn,
Olivue, Paikuhan,
Western Kaio-sama, the fighters on the Next World,
Kibitoshin, Dende, Ol' Dirty Bastard,
The Ogres and damned souls of Hell,
Gozu, Mezu,
Ghurd, Butta, Jheese, Reacoom, Dr. Gero,
Cell
King Cold, Freeza
Appule
and even Madoshi Babidi himself, all watch with wrapped astonishment as Son Goku and Majin Boo clash on that holiest of worlds. Babidi even roots for Goku!
Son Goku's mighty Super Saiyan 3 ki blast is enough to make Boo regenerate himself all wrong, in frustration.
"Don't be in such a hurry. The fight is just getting started."
The strain of maintaining Super Saiyan 3 and launching a massive Kamehameha brings Goku down to his knees. Despite the two fighting evenly, perhaps with Goku getting more consistent hits, Boo's ki is endless while Goku's is desperately short lived in this form.
"Kakarotto!!"
Vegeta hurries to Goku's side.
"Switch out, Kakarotto. You rest for a little bit."
"Vegeta... he has ridiculous strength... be prepared."
"I know."
Now it's Vegeta turns to take on Majin Boo as Goku recovers his strength. First order of business: Eliminate all the little Boos that were created when Goku's Kamehameha blasted Boo into bits!
Simple enough. Now, to beat Majin Boo himself.
Decidedly less simple. Not even Vegeta's Final Flash puts a dent in him.
But before Majin Boo can turn his might toward finishing off the wounded Vegeta, Goku reenters the fray and powers up to maximum. Once again, he takes on Majin Boo with even strength and speed.
"Kakarotto... you are one incredible guy."
"I was absolutely no match against Majin Boo."
"You're the only one who can fight with him."
"The first time I met you, I came to Earth while I was conquering planets on the frontier."
"Ever since then, I lived with the goal of surpassing you."
"It's said that the legendary Super Saiyan can only appear in one out of one-thousand. Even if the legend were true, the capacity to become a Super Saiyan lay within me alone!"
"From my own self-loathing, suddenly I was awakened... as a Super Saiyan! I was trembling with the joy of it. Finally! Finally the time when I had surpassed Kakarotto and returned as the Saiyan prince had come! ... But in the end, I was unable to surpass you."
"At first I thought it was because you had something to protect; That having a strong will to defend something gave rise to some mysterious power..."
"That certainly may be true. But if it were, then it would have been the same for me, now."
"It was to have my own way, it was for my own enjoyment, it was to kill my enemies, and it was for my own pride that I had fought.
"But Kakarotto, you were different. You don't fight in order to win, you fight in order to be certain you do not lose, and in order to keep reaching your limits. That's why you don't need to take your opponent's life."
"In the end, you never did kill me. It's as if you knew that I would come to have the slightest bit of a heart. It's maddening! That there should be a Saiyan who loves to fight, yet is kind!"
"Hang in there, Kakarotto. You are number one!"
Hang in there, Son Goku!!!
