Super Boo's furious ki blasts through the air, narrowly missing Gotenks and Piccolo. Piccolo gawks, as Boo's attack had so much power that, if it had directly hit the Earth, it would have destroyed everything. Then poor Papa Pickles continues to gawk as Gotenks returns equal fire on Boo with his Continuous DIE DIE Missile attack.
God damn it, Gotenks.
Although Boo's magic gives him "ki" that is endlessly regenerating, like his bubble gum-y flesh, Piccolo notes he's becoming mentally weaker the longer he fights an opponent like Gotenks, who can match him blow for blow. The good spirited excitement Majin Boo showed when fighting on equal grounds with Son Goku seems to have left Super Boo along with his former self's more loveable personality.
But telling this to Gotenks was a bad move on Piccolo's part, since it only makes the boy more arrogant and left open to attack.
Oops.
Meanwhile, in the Kaioshin Realm...
Back on Earth, Super Boo and Super Gotenks' struggle for dominance continues to heat up.
To quote Piccolo from the DBZ episode 259 preview, "It's an amazing fight, and yet somehow it's still silly."
With Boo beaten and on the ropes, Gotenks promises to use his ki to fully eliminate any trace of the monster, now that the Fusion Warrior has a firm upperhand.
Except then he loses so much ki he reverts back to his normal self.
Out of options, Gotenks decides to unleash yet another Super Ghost Kamikaze Attack as a means to distract Boo while he gets the heck out of dodge to regroup with Piccolo.
It almost works, except...
Their 30 minutes are finally up, and Gotenks reverts back into Goten and Trunks.
Goku, Kaioshin, and Kibit watch with anxiety as the severely weakened boys are left to defend against Boo. Gohan asks when he'll be done powering up beyond his limits, and Ol' Dirty Bastard reveals they've probably been done about five minutes, but having the same kind of flair for the dramatic as Gotenks, he figures it's best to go now that the heroes are in a dire pinch.
Gohan powers up into his new Ultimate form...
... and his ki is incredible!!
According to ODB, here's what this new form is, just so everyone is on the same page:
- It's accessed like Super Saiyan by getting "fired up", but is less "depraved" (costly?) than SSJ.
- It is a Transformation, despite it changing Gohan's appearance only very little. (His hair and eye shape look more like an SSJ, but retain the color of his natural state.)
- It is beyond Gohan's normal limits, yet Gohan's own limits were so great that it took longer than 20 hours to pull it entirely out of Gohan.
- A replacement for SSJ that overrides Gohan's ability to go SSJ. No one ever says he can't do it anymore, it's just implied that in the face of this new form, SSJ is kind of useless.
- His normal state 100% of the time. He still seems to have to 'tap in' or 'transform' into it in order for it to be effective, like SSJ.
- Permanent. ODB never says the power up will last forever, nor are the conditions of how it will last ever explored in the original DBZ anime.
Though Kaioshin wishes to go with Gohan to see through to the end of Boo, Kibit says they should stay behind. He alone will take Gohan back to Earth, and then return to the Kaioshin Realm to watch this great savior battle Majin Boo. Awed by Kibit's new found respect for Gohan, Kaioshin agrees. (But really, Kibit is probably just trying to get Gohan away from his boyfriend as quickly as possible.)
Son Gohan says a heartfelt goodbye to his father, who doesn't suspect they'll see each other again until Gohan grows well old and passes into the Next World himself. And then with Kibit's magic, Gohan dons his father's orange and blue gi - the color of the gi Kame Sen'nin gave Goku all those years ago and with which Goku has overcome all of his greatest trials - and with which Gohan now flies off to confront his.
Go on, Gohan! Only you can defeat Majin Boo!!
Wait. What are you doing here? And what's with that look in your eyes?!
