Despite their best efforts to recover the Black Star Dragon Balls, the Earth has only two weeks left until the year is up and the planet explodes; All thanks to Baby, who used the Black Star Balls to wish Planet Tsufru into existence. Without enough time to gather them from the four galaxies that make up the universe again, our heroes turn to a strikingly familiar tactic.
Vegeta comes up with the plan - Organize the Earthlings to save themselves by getting aboard Capsule Corporation spaceship ferries to Planet Tsufru, while Kibitoshin and Goku use their Instantaneous Movement techniques to move others gathered up at strategic locations.
Mr. Satan convinces the Earthlings to go along with it - Once more using his celebrity endorsement, Satan convinces the entire Planet Earth over an afternoon that their planet is going to explode and that their only hope of survival is to get aboard spaceships, or get teleported by a purple elf man or a fuzzy pink monkey man.
And then, a slew of cameos.
Kuririn, #18, and Marron.
The King. (Still benignly ruling Earth for his 57th year.)
Suno and Hachan.
Oob and his family.
Upa, Bora, and their family.
Yajirobe and Karin.
Pilaf, Shuu, and Mai.
Tenshinhan and Chaozu.
Yamcha and Freddie Mercury.
Puar, Muten Roshi, and Oolong.
Namu.
Piccolo, who rescues some kid.
And even ol' Pee Rex.
With everyone safely taken to Planet Tsufru, Earth is left to explode... again. By itself, this would make this whole episode seem like a strangely fast-forward and slightly out-of-order rehash of the Majin Boo Saga, but then we're treated to a bunch of weird Piccolo scenes to make it distinctly Dragon Ball GT.
Firstly, Goku runs out of energy to use SSJ4 from teleporting people for two weeks, right as he's about to teleport the boy Piccolo rescues. So Piccolo takes his hand and... restores his ability to use Instantaneous Movement in his normal form. It isn't explained how or why this scene even exists, but... okay.
Then Piccolo decides to stay on the Earth so that he and the Black Star Dragon Balls he created so long ago will die with the planet. Not weird in itself, since that's the kind of baller move we expect from Piccolo, but...
He contacts Gohan to tell him goodbye... and then it's heavily implied that Baby Gohan's Kamehameha is already killing Piccolo, and that he's staying behind just to get it over with sooner.
Congratulations GT, on the stupidest scene we've ever written.
Porunga is called up to once again restore the Earth, and everyone, including a repaired Giru, gets together at Capsule Corp. to have a big party... exactly like the end of DBZ.
And this was going to be the end of Dragon Ball GT. Or at least, the series wraps up neatly here because Toei originally ordered 40 episodes of it. But due to the um, success, of these 40 episodes (yes the 40 episodes we've just gone through - not a mysterious, much better 40 episodes I overlooked), an additional 24 episodes, plus an hour long TV special, were ordered. So strap yourself in for Dragon Ball GT, Part 2.
